Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti apparently isn't sure about his own 'mask mandate' these days as he is now in a bit of a pickle for 'letting his cover down' at an NFL game with some Magic.
Last Sunday, Garcetti took a photo with Laker legend Magic Johnson at the NFL's NFC Championship game (Rams-49ers) at So-Fi Stadium in L.A. and neither were wearing masks in the pic. The photo has been circulated widely on social media.
The Garcetti Self-Imposed Mask Mandate: Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Breath
Mayor Garcetti responded to 'coverage' of the faux-pas with a totally believable explanation:
"I wore my mask the entire game. When people ask for a photograph, I hold my breath and I put it here and people can see that," Garcetti said holding his mask in his hand. "There is a zero percent chance of infection from that."
So if the entire world had just held their breath for the past 2 years all this could have been avoided??
Damn! This guy is smart! Where was he when Dr. Foot-Tall was telling us to wear 56 masks??
Mayor Garcetti: Even Your Friends Don't Believe You
The backlash over Garcetti Mask Gate (actually, I think I'll call it Un-Mask Gate) has been fairly swift even from left-leaning publications:
Holding your breath? Really? I mean, come on man.
That explanation is totally unbelievable. Plus, if Covid-19 is primarily passed through your nose, then holding your breath probably doesn't do much good anyway.
Garcetti's flub is the latest in a string of Covid-related missteps by prominent California Democrats.
Speaking of, remember California Governor Gavin Newsom and his dirty laundry? Oh...I mean he went to some swanky restaurant called The French Laundry without a mask on while admonishing the world if they didn't wear theirs?
Speaking of Gavin...He Was at the Game Too...But His Mask Wasn't...It Was Still Eating the Escargot...
Yeah...old Gavvy was snapped without his face diaper too. But he had yet another good reason...he was holding his mask...because he has another nose in his hand.
Ok ok, he doesn't. But point made.

At least now we have an excuse:
From now on, if someone bugs you about not wearing a mask, tell them:— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 3, 2022
1) The spirit moved you (Mayor London Breed, SF)
2) You were holding your breath (Mayor Eric Garcetti, LA) https://t.co/Jp9oPBgl3t
Speaking of Un-Masked...These Guys Did It Right....until the 80's
#OnThisDay - Sept. 18th 1983. The then current lineup of KISS is unmasked on MTV. Was it the right move? Should they have kept the makeup? If You're Going to Pick a Time to Wear Your Mask...Wouldn't it Be When You Take a Picture That 30 Million People Will See?
Mr. Mayor...you say you take your mask off for a picture briefly. Isn't THAT sending the wrong
Of ALL the times you wear the mask it should be when you take a picture...to set the example.
But hey, I'm good with this. I don't want to wear a frickin' mask...ever again. So we're good, right?
Yeah, didn't think so.
You're not interested in setting the example, are you? You're interested in the party line of political hypocrisy:
"Do as I say, not as I do."
