United says any new employee offered a job with the airline after June 15th will have to show proof they have been fully vaccinated in order to start work.
United CEO Scott Kirby Wants 'Em All Vaccinated...
Back in January, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said he would have ALL employees at the carrier vaccinated if he had his way:
“I don’t think United will get away with and can realistically be the only company that requires vaccines and makes them mandatory."
Kirby seemed to indicate compliance is the only way forward:
“The worst thing that I believe I will ever do in my career is the letters that I have written to the surviving family members of coworkers that we have lost to the coronavirus.”
Even more than personal freedoms being stripped potentially a global level?
Maybe he's right? Time will tell, but it's certainly the slickest of slopes...
American and Southwest Have Not Made Vaccinations Mandatory...They Just Really Hope You Get 'Em...
Southwest Airlines is urging employees to get vaccinated, but they are not making it a requirement.
American Airlines is not requiring vax either but will require them in obvious situations where an employee must have one to enter in to another country that requires it (Flight Attendants, Pilots).
A Lot of People Won't (Aren't) Digging This...On BOTH Fronts
Michael Klemm, President of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 141 which represents United passenger service workers said that he's received complaints from workers who do not want to take the vaccine. He's also getting complaints from employees who don't want to work with people who don't take it.
