Delta Air Lines has been named the most on-time airline by aviation analytics giant Cirium, a title they have won for the 2nd year in a row.
The award is for Airline On-Time Performance Service Quality Award by FlightStats. This award recognizes Delta's commitment to delivering its customers with world-class on-time performance service.
The award is a testament to the operational complexity that goes into Delta’s day-to-day operations and their exceptional work at limiting the impact of disruption on its customers. Delta has truly set the bar in providing an outstanding customer experience.
In 2022, Delta Air Lines had the most punctual record among North American carriers. According to data from Cirium, of the 1,004,684 flights that took place last year, a whopping 83.63% arrived on time. This is a remarkable achievement for an airline of Delta's size and scope.
"The care and commitment of Delta people across our diverse, global operation helped secure this recognition again as the industry leader," said John Laughter, EVP and Chief of Operations. "We ran the most on-time airline during a challenging year of rebuilding and made improvements that will allow us to climb even higher this year."
Delta has long been a leader in providing reliable, on-time services for its customers. This commitment is reflected in the airline's motto: “safe, clean and on time with bags”. In order to ensure that passengers get from point A to point B without any delays, Delta has made it their mission to continually strive for improved on-time performance.
From frequent maintenance checks to its advanced boarding processes, Delta is dedicated to providing the highest quality service possible. With this dedication comes a commitment to delivering passengers’ baggage on time and in pristine condition, setting the standard for air travel excellence.
“Congratulations to Delta Air Lines for their excellent performance in Cirium’s 2022 On-Time Performance Review, getting its passengers to their destinations on time as the sector revived during 2022,” said Cirium CEO Jeremy Bowen.
Delta's on-time performance has greatly exceeded North American industry standards in 2022. According to data from Cirium, more than 5 million flights were tracked throughout the year and of those, an impressive 71.91% arrived at their destination on time or earlier.
For flights to be considered as having arrived on time, they must have arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled gate arrival.
