Etihad Airways is adding another weekly flight between Abu Dhabi and Shanghai as travel demand continues to grow.
Starting in February of 2023, Etihad will provide passengers with more opportunity to explore Shanghai's vibrant cityscape by offering two weekly flights to Pudong International Airport (PVG) on board their modern Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft.
This service is subject to regulatory approval, however, and is intended to provide customers with a fast and convenient connection to Shanghai's bustling business and cultural scene.
The new service between Abu Dhabi and China, which provides five weekly nonstop flights, is a great opportunity for travelers. Providing passengers with the convenience of direct flights between these two destinations, the service offers a weekly flight to Beijing as well as twice-weekly services to Guangzhou.
Martin Drew, Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Cargo at Etihad Aviation Group, said: "Etihad Airways is delighted to add a second weekly passenger service to Shanghai following the further relaxation of Covid-related travel measures.
"China is a market of primary importance to Etihad, and as one of the country's largest financial and economic centres, Shanghai plays a crucial role in our network.
"Etihad is committed to developing our operation to China, and we look forward to welcoming more travellers on board in the new year to experience our award-winning hospitality."
On October 2022, Etihad became the first international airline to launch nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou since the start of the devastating global pandemic.
This year, the airline achieved another remarkable feat in China: it operated the very first international commercial flight to Beijing since the city allowed for direct international travel once again in June 2022. This means that travelers from outside China were able to visit Beijing and its many attractions without having to go through any other intermediate destinations.
