Spirit Airlines Launching Phoenix-Kansas City Service This Fall

September 2, 2022

Lost-cost carrier Spirit Airlines continues its route expansion with the announcement they will start service between Phoenix and Kansas City starting in November.

The upcoming daily non-stop flights will connect Kansas City International Airport (MCI) with Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) and all Arizona has to offer including award-winning dining, golf, national parks and more.

“We listened to our Kansas City Guests and are excited to deliver more convenient options to vacation destinations in the Southwest,” said John Kirby, Spirit Airlines Vice President of Network Planning. “We can’t wait to offer MCI travelers low fares to Phoenix ahead of the holiday travel season.”

NOTE: The PHX-MCI route starts November 7th and is seasonal.

“We’re pleased that Spirit Airlines is further investing in Kansas City and expanding service here,” said Pat Klein, Director of the Kansas City Aviation Department. “Phoenix has long been a popular destination and this route will offer travelers additional options to the city.”

To fuel Spirits' growth is the airline's upcoming delivery of 24 new aircraft this year and 33 more new planes slated for delivery in 2023.

This is really a boost for JetBlue and the upcoming merger. They will be a force against 'The Big 4' carriers for years.
