Severe flooding caused by unexpected record rainfall has led to significant disruptions at Dubai International Airport (DXB), with operations severely impacted for three consecutive days. The airport, one of the busiest globally, saw 1,244 flight cancellations and 61 diversions over a two-day period.

As the storm continued, Emirates and flydubai, which operate primarily out of Terminal 3, were forced to temporarily suspend check-ins, advising passengers to delay their travel to the airport amidst ongoing traffic congestion and operational chaos. Although check-ins later resumed, the airport authority advised only those with confirmed departures to proceed to the airport due to high passenger volumes and continued delays.

Stranded travelers faced considerable challenges, with many forced to sleep in the airport terminals as surrounding roads remained impassable due to flooding, and staff shortages exacerbated the situation. Despite efforts to restore full operations, the persistent adverse conditions left many passengers stranded and frustrated.
