On Monday, Hawaiian Airlines introduced the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner as its new flagship aircraft, servicing the Honolulu to San Francisco route. The inaugural flight was operated by the aircraft designated N781HA, which is named "Kapuahi," also known as the star Aldebaran in Western astronomy.

Peter Ingram, President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, commented on the occasion. “Today marks an incredible achievement for all of us at Hawaiian Airlines, and I’d like to thank all of our teammates, Boeing, and many partners for helping us make this moment possible,” he said.

He further emphasized the airline's dedication to service quality, stating, “Our 787-9 is a true flagship product that, when paired with our crew's award-winning hospitality, will provide guests with an unforgettable Hawaiʻi travel experience.”

The aircraft's introduction was celebrated at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, specifically at gate A4. The event featured live music, a hula dance performance, and a traditional blessing ceremony. Additionally, each passenger boarding the inaugural flight was presented with a fresh lei.
