TAP Air Portugal Expands Brazilian Network with New A330 Flights to Florianópolis

TAP Air Portugal is set to expand its operations in Brazil, announcing the addition of Florianópolis as its twelfth destination in the country. Starting this September, the airline will introduce three weekly flights to Aeroporto Internacional de Florianópolis – Hercílio Luz. The route will be serviced by the Airbus A330-200, which offers a capacity of 269 passengers across two cabins.

Flights are scheduled to depart from Lisbon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with the return journey also taking place on the same days. The strategic scheduling allows passengers to arrive in Portugal the following day. Interested travelers can already purchase tickets, which start at 599€ ($647).

As the largest foreign carrier in Brazil, TAP Air Portugal‘s new route underscores its commitment to strengthening its presence in this key market. According to Cirium, an aviation analytics firm, TAP leads in the number of flights and seats offered among international carriers in Brazil. With 813 roundtrip flights scheduled for July, the peak of European summer and Brazilian winter, TAP significantly outpaces other international airlines.

Despite being a smaller network in terms of destinations, Copa Airlines ranks as Brazil’s third largest international carrier. In July alone, Copa plans to operate 732 flights, offering a total of 124,232 seats across just six routes. This high frequency highlights the airline’s operational focus and its popularity among travelers.

This expansion by TAP Air Portugal not only increases its footprint in Brazil but also emphasizes its position as a preferred European carrier for Brazilian travelers. As the airline extends its network, it continues to play a pivotal role in connecting two vibrant regions through strategic and frequent air service.
