Qatar Airways has announced a series of ambitious developments under the leadership of its new Group Chief Executive Officer, Eng Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.
In a commitment to spearhead innovation within the global airline industry, Qatar Airways is set to introduce new First Class cabins and redesign its premium Qsuite. These initiatives are part of Eng Al-Meer’s vision to elevate the airline and its associated businesses to new heights.
During his first interview since his appointment in November 2023, Eng Al-Meer shared with CNBC his optimistic outlook and strategic plans for Qatar Airways. He revealed, “This is a new era,” emphasizing the introduction of a “newly-designed First Class cabin unique to Qatar Airways.”
Eng Al-Meer further elaborated, “Based on the demand from certain sectors, we see a high demand for First Class, and as such, have decided to introduce a newly-designed First Class cabin unique to Qatar Airways. No one can develop a First Class cabin better than us – we are combining the experience of flying commercial and executive jets to develop something new. We are 70 to 80 per cent ready and are only finalising colours. We are hoping to announce it soon.”

The redesigned Qsuite is slated to make its debut at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2024. Launched in 2017, the original Qsuite Business Class set a new standard in the industry and continues to serve as a benchmark.
Eng Al-Meer also addressed the competitive landscape in the GCC region, stating that it motivates Qatar Airways to enhance customer experience further. He expressed confidence in the airline’s ability to maintain its market-leading position, stating, “We are hoping to announce it soon.”
The introduction of digital innovations aimed at improving organizational efficiencies was also highlighted. These advancements come as Qatar Airways announces new routes in growth markets such as China and India, bolstering Qatar’s role as a global gateway.

With over 170 destinations worldwide, Qatar Airways is expanding its reach with inaugural flights to Hamburg and Tashkent, along with the resumption of services to Lisbon and Venice. The airline will also resume seasonal routes to several destinations.
