Emirates Just Launched the First Airline Travel Insurance That Covers Conflict Zones

Emirates Airbus A380

Emirates is making a play for the title of most traveler-friendly airline with a new insurance product that goes further than anything else on the market — including coverage for medical expenses and trip extensions triggered by conflict-related disruptions.

The product, called Comprehensive Travel Cover and backed by Travel Guard, includes the standard suite travelers expect: trip cancellation, baggage delay and loss compensation, and unlimited medical and emergency evacuation coverage worldwide. The headline addition is conflict cover — up to $25,000 in medical reimbursement and a free 30-day trip extension if conflict disrupts your journey, with no restriction based on government travel advisories.

Beyond the insurance product itself, Emirates is layering in airline-managed hotel accommodation during disruptions including airspace closures — and will rebook passengers to their destination at no additional cost if Emirates services go down, even when the itinerary involves other carriers.

The cover is available now on emirates.com at booking or via Manage Booking for existing reservations. Current markets include the UK, Canada, Germany, Singapore, UAE, and about two dozen others — the U.S. is notably absent from the launch list.

Why It Matters: If you’re routing through Dubai this summer on Emirates, this is worth a look before you book — particularly the conflict cover, which addresses a real gap for travelers flying into or near regions with elevated geopolitical risk.
