Air Arabia, the foremost low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, has recommenced flights to Basra, Iraq, from Sharjah International Airport. This newly reintroduced service operates four times a week, marking Basra as the fourth direct connection from Sharjah, complementing routes to Baghdad, Najaf, and Erbil.

The inaugural flight was welcomed at Basra International Airport with the customary water cannon salute and a ribbon-cutting event, attended by dignitaries from both Air Arabia and the airport authorities. This gesture underscored the significance of the new route in strengthening regional connectivity.

“Air Arabia’s new flights to Basra mark a significant milestone in our commitment to providing affordable travel options within the region,” stated Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia. He emphasized the service’s role in enhancing travel and trade relations between the two regions, highlighting the benefits of direct city-to-city connections.

The Airbus A320 and A321 models comprise Air Arabia’s fleet, boasting modernity and efficiency as some of the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft. The carrier enhances the passenger experience with SkyTime, a complimentary in-flight streaming service, and SkyCafe, which offers economical onboard dining options. Additionally, the airline’s loyalty program, Air Rewards, allows customers to earn, transfer, and spend points in innovative ways, further adding value to its service offerings.

The resumption of this route is seen as a strategic move by Air Arabia to capitalize on increasing travel demand in the region while continuing to offer cost-effective travel solutions. This development not only facilitates easier access between Sharjah and Basra but also reinforces the airline’s role in promoting stronger bilateral ties through enhanced air connectivity.
