Airbus has achieved a significant milestone with the successful delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, assembled at the company’s newest A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse.

This delivery, made to Pegasus Airlines, a leading low-cost carrier in Türkiye, marks the commencement of operations from Airbus’ latest state-of-the-art production facility. This facility, located in the revamped A380 “Jean-Luc Lagardère” building, represents Airbus’ commitment to modernization and its response to the increasing global demand for the A321neo.

The A321neo, the largest member of the Airbus A320neo Family, is renowned for its unparalleled range and performance. Featuring new-generation engines and Sharklets, the aircraft stands out for its significant environmental benefits. It offers a 50% reduction in noise footprint and achieves more than a 20% reduction in fuel burn and CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. Additionally, the A321neo enhances passenger comfort with the widest single-aisle cabin available.

To date, over 5,600 A321neos have been ordered by more than 100 customers worldwide, demonstrating its popularity and the model now constitutes nearly 65% of Airbus’ A320 Family order backlog. Pegasus Airlines‘ commitment to the Airbus fleet is evident in its current lineup of 93 aircraft, which includes 6 A320ceo, 46 A320neo, and 41 A321neo, along with an order of 68 more A321neos.

The new Toulouse FAL, with this delivery to Pegasus Airlines, begins its ramp-up phase. This facility, along with other A320 Family FALs located in Hamburg (Germany), Mobile (USA), and Tianjin (China), plays a crucial role in Airbus’ strategy. The company aims to reach a production target of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month by 2026, a goal that aligns with its growth and efficiency objectives in the competitive aviation industry.
