Emirates Is Adding Four Weekly Flights to Ghana and the Hub Connections Are the Real Story

Emirates Boeing 777

Emirates is expanding its Accra operations starting July 12, adding four weekly Boeing 777-300ER flights between Dubai and Ghana’s capital to meet what the airline describes as year-round high seat occupancy on the route.

The new service — operating Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays — brings Emirates to 11 weekly flights to Accra total. The timing is optimized for connections in both directions. From Accra, travelers gain easier onward access through Dubai to Beijing, Seoul, Sydney, Mumbai, Singapore, and New York JFK. Travelers heading to Ghana can connect via Dubai from Delhi, Boston, Los Angeles, and major UK and German gateways.

Each flight runs on the 777-300ER with 8 first class private suites, 42 lie-flat business class seats, and 304 economy seats — Emirates’ standard widebody configuration on the route.

The expansion also carries a cargo dimension. Emirates SkyCargo uses the Accra belly capacity to move fresh-cut fruit, electronics, textiles, and pharmaceuticals between Ghana and European destinations including Prague and Zurich.

Why It Matters: For travelers routing between West Africa and North America or Asia, Emirates through Dubai is one of the more seamless connection options available — and four additional weekly frequencies means more scheduling flexibility on a route that’s clearly in high demand.**
