Frontier Airlines is adding two new routes this summer, highlighted by its return to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport with daily service from Las Vegas launching August 20 — eleven flights a week at introductory fares starting at $49.
The second new route connects Las Vegas and Boise, Idaho, launching September 10 at four flights weekly, also from $49. Both announcements are part of Frontier’s ongoing push to expand low-fare options across the West.
The Oakland return is the more significant of the two. OAK has become an increasingly attractive alternative to SFO for Bay Area travelers — shorter security lines, easier parking, and now another ultra-low-cost carrier option on the Vegas corridor, one of the busiest leisure routes in the country.
The routes arrive as Frontier is midway through a broader product overhaul it’s calling “The New Frontier.” Changes include UpFront Plus seating — a guaranteed empty middle seat with extra legroom in the first two rows — unlimited companion travel for loyal customers, and a First Class cabin debuting in 2026. For an airline long associated with bare-bones flying, that’s a meaningful shift in positioning.
Why It Matters: If you’re flying between the Bay Area and Las Vegas this fall, Frontier’s Oakland return adds another low-fare option worth checking — particularly at $49 introductory fares before prices normalize.
