Starting October 1, Alaska Airlines will offer a new, daily nonstop service connecting California’s wine country, via Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, with Las Vegas.
This initiative marks the airline’s latest effort to bolster its presence in the San Francisco Bay Area, introducing Las Vegas as its seventh nonstop destination from Sonoma County.
The introduction of this route increases Alaska Airlines’ peak day departures from Sonoma County to 13, including existing nonstop services to Los Angeles, Burbank, Orange County, Seattle, Portland, and San Diego.
Tickets for the new route, as well as the airline’s other destinations, are currently available for purchase on alaskaair.com.
Alaska Airlines: A Two-Decade Commitment to Sonoma County
Kirsten Amrine, vice president of network planning and revenue management at Alaska Airlines, expressed the airline’s longstanding relationship with the region, stating, “We feel a deep connection with Santa Rosa – Alaska became the first carrier to bring commercial service to Sonoma County Airport nearly two decades ago – and we’ve remained the largest airline at STS serving nearly 2 million guests since then.” She further emphasized Alaska’s unique position as the only airline serving all four Bay Area airports, including Santa Rosa, San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland, and expressed eagerness to connect passengers between Santa Rosa and Las Vegas through their “premium, award-winning service.”
Jon Stout, airport manager at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, also commented on the new service, highlighting the positive impact on the community. “We are thrilled with the addition of service from Alaska Airlines to Las Vegas – this route signifies not only our commitment to providing convenient travel options, but also Alaska’s dedication to enhancing connectivity within our community,” Stout said. He anticipates the new service will open new opportunities and experiences for passengers, contributing to the growth of the partnership between the airport and Alaska Airlines.
Service Features Embraer 175 Jets for Comfortable, Middle-Seat-Free Travel
Alaska Airlines also offers the Wine Flies Free program for travelers visiting Sonoma, allowing Mileage Plan members to check a case of up to 12 bottles of wine for free, addressing the challenge of costly shipping fees for wine transportation.
The new Santa Rosa/Sonoma to Las Vegas route will be operated using the Embraer 175 jet, featuring window and aisle seating only, no middle seats, and a three-class cabin with First Class and Premium Class.
Additional amenities include hundreds of free movies and TV shows available for viewing on personal devices, free texting on most flights, and available Wi-Fi connectivity for purchase.
