In a significant development for urban air mobility, Archer Aviation has announced plans to establish an air transportation network linking key locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This network will facilitate connections between South San Francisco, Napa, San Jose, Oakland, and Livermore. As part of this initiative, Kilroy Realty Corporation has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Archer. This agreement earmarks Kilroy Oyster Point, a sprawling 50-acre waterfront campus in South San Francisco, as a central hub for the network.
The MOU aims to evaluate the feasibility of constructing a vertiport at the Kilroy Oyster Point development. This site is envisioned to host the Archer “Sea Portal,” a pioneering waterfront mobility hub. The Sea Portal plans to integrate electric ferry services and eVTOL operations, serving all entities within the Kilroy Oyster Point enclave. Notably, the entire operation will be energized by renewable energy sources, aligning with broader environmental sustainability goals.
Kilroy’s CEO, Angela Aman, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, “We believe that this innovative and sustainable service has the potential to provide exceptional convenience and optionality to current and future tenants at the project, further differentiating Kilroy Oyster Point within the South San Francisco market.”
This initiative reflects a growing trend of integrating advanced transportation solutions within urban planning to enhance connectivity while minimizing environmental impact.
