JFK Millennium Partners, in collaboration with Clean, a leader in sanitation technology, has unveiled a pioneering luggage sanitization system at JFK Terminal 7. This introduction marks a significant advancement in U.S. airport safety protocols, making JFK the first American airport to implement such technology.
The new system leverages UV-C light technology, developed by Clean, which claims to eradicate 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens from luggage surfaces swiftly. This service will be available to passengers arriving at Terminal 7 throughout the summer, with an introductory offer of $10 for two pieces of luggage. The initiative is part of a broader pilot program aimed at enhancing traveler safety and confidence.
Rodney Jones, CEO of Clean, stated, “We are honored to partner with JFK’s Terminal 7 to bring Clean’s innovative sanitization technology to one of the world’s busiest and most iconic airports.” He highlighted the importance of ensuring health safety in the current travel climate, adding, “Clean will allow passengers to sanitize their baggage after every flight. Simply gather your luggage from the baggage claim carousel, drop your bags at the Clean machine, and within seconds your bag will be sanitized – because what you bring home with you matters!”
On the part of JFK Millennium Partners, Steve Thody, CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s potential to set new hygiene standards. “We are thrilled to be the nation’s first airport terminal to make this groundbreaking technology available to our passengers,” Thody remarked. He anticipates strong passenger support for the program, suggesting it could lead to broader adoption in the industry.
Terminal 7 handles over 2,000 flights monthly, serving 14 domestic and international airlines. The incorporation of Clean’s technology into such a high-traffic environment underscores a growing industry commitment to combatting the spread of infectious diseases post-pandemic.
