Menzies Aviation, a global leader in airport and airline services, has announced a strategic partnership with Airport Services Budapest Zrt. (AS Budapest), aiming to expand its operations at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD). This alliance marks a significant enhancement of Menzies’ service offerings in Hungary, including ground handling, cargo, and lounge services.

AS Budapest, known for managing the ground handling for numerous prominent airlines at Hungary’s largest airport, offers an array of services. These encompass ground and air cargo handling, aviation security, and the operation of the Skycourt Lounge, the airport’s largest business lounge.

Under the terms of the agreement, pending regulatory approval, AS Budapest will transfer all its current contracts and assets to Menzies Aviation Hungary Kft. Moreover, all employees of AS Budapest are set to receive employment offers from their new prospective employer, Menzies Aviation Hungary Kft.

Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, EVP Europe at Menzies Aviation, commented on the merger, stating, “Joining forces with AS Budapest not only extends our footprint at BUD airport, but marks the next step in our European growth journey. AS Budapest has a long track record and strong client base, and we look forward to combining this with our international expertise and extensive reach at more than 297 airports in 65 countries. Together, we are committed to enhancing the experience for our airline customers, airport partners and passengers traveling to Budapest, ensuring high quality services and operational excellence.”

This collaboration not only signifies Menzies’ expansion in the European market but also underlines its commitment to maintaining high standards of service quality and operational excellence at a key hub in Central Europe.
