Qatar Airways is set to revolutionize its inflight experience by introducing Starlink low-latency satellite Wi-Fi connectivity to its fleet, starting with three Boeing 777-300 aircraft. This initiative marks the first deployment of such technology in the MENA region, according to the airline.

The Doha-based carrier, which commenced operations in January 1994, has entered into a partnership with Starlink, a satellite internet constellation managed by SpaceX. This collaboration is expected to enhance the connectivity offerings across Qatar Airways’ modern fleet, which currently consists of 146 aircraft servicing nearly 170 destinations worldwide.

Qatar Airways, renowned for its exceptional service levels and one of only seven airlines to hold a Skytrax 5-Star Airline rating, aims to significantly enhance the passenger experience. The integration of Starlink technology will enable the airline to offer complimentary Wi-Fi with speeds up to 500 Mbps per plane. This upgrade will support a range of online activities for passengers, including streaming media, online gaming, and web browsing.

“This exciting collaboration with Starlink is a testament to our customer-first mindset and commitment to elevating our passengers’ experience to unprecedented heights, as we continue furthering our innovative offerings to meet and exceed passengers’ expectations throughout their journey with Qatar Airways,” said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

The partnership with Starlink not only positions Qatar Airways as a leader in technological innovation within the global aviation industry but also solidifies its strategic commitment to enhancing inflight connectivity. This project is set to roll out across the entire fleet over the next two years, signaling a significant advancement in the way passengers experience air travel.
