Western Air, the premier privately owned airline in The Bahamas, has announced the appointment of Sherrexcia “Rexy” Rolle, Esq. as its new President, CEO, and Accountable Manager, effective from January 1st, 2024. Rexy Rolle steps into this role with over 15 years of experience in the airline industry, having previously served as the Vice President of Operations and General Counsel for more than nine years. Her appointment marks a significant milestone, joining the limited 8% of female airline CEOs.

Rexy Rolle’s extensive background as an Aviation & Corporate Attorney, specializing in airline operations, has been instrumental in Western Air’s strategic developments. Under her leadership, the airline transitioned to a uniform fleet of nine Embraer ERJ 145- 50 seater jets. She has been pivotal in launching new routes, including Western Air’s first U.S. route between Nassau and Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, Rolle played a key role in the 2015 opening of the Western Air Freeport Passenger Terminal and its subsequent reopening after overcoming the challenges posed by Hurricane Dorian and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chairman Rex Rolle commented on Rexy Rolle’s appointment, stating, “Rexy is deeply committed to the service we offer passengers. She’s hands on. For years, her role has been all encompassing, overseeing the day-to-day operations and the legal & regulatory affairs of the airline. We know she will continue to work hard to enhance and develop the Western Air experience for passengers.”

The President & CEO position was previously held by Capt. Rex Rolle, who co-founded Western Air in September 2000 along with his wife, Shandrice Woodside. Capt. Rolle, with over 41 years of aviation experience, will now serve as the Chairman of the Board and will continue to contribute to the company’s overall direction.

In her new role, Rexy Rolle emphasizes her commitment to customers, operations, and the mission of the airline. She acknowledges the significance of customer service in motivating the airline’s growth and innovation. “Customers matter most and we are here to serve from check-in to landing and beyond. Passengers motivate our growth and innovation. However, our core mission remains the same; to provide safe, quality, affordable, efficient air service. We believe travel should be easy & no pressure. Hence, our tickets are usable for one year with no change or cancellation fees, ever,” she said. She also expressed gratitude to her team and acknowledged the honor of stepping into the role previously held by her father.
