Scoot, the low-fare subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has commenced operations with its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, inaugurating flights to Krabi and Hat Yai.
The E190-E2 aircraft, equipped with 112 seats featuring a standard seat pitch of 29 inches, marks the beginning of Scoot’s fleet expansion. The airline has received the first of two E190-E2 aircraft, with the second aircraft having recently arrived in Singapore and currently in the final stages of preparation for service. The remaining seven aircraft are anticipated to be delivered by the end of 2025.
Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, stated that the E190-E2 was a “natural choice as we looked to grow Scoot’s fleet.” Thng emphasized that the addition of these aircraft would enable the carrier to strengthen its regional presence and “enhance our connectivity to non-metro destinations.”
In March, Scoot revealed the first six routes the carrier will operate with these new jets. The inclusion of two new destinations, Koh Samui and Sibu, will bring Scoot’s total destinations to 69. Presently, Scoot serves 67 destinations across 15 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe.
This strategic expansion with the E190-E2 aircraft reflects Scoot’s commitment to broadening its network and offering more options to travelers seeking cost-effective and convenient travel solutions.
