Kansas City International Airport is set to experience an expansion in its flight offerings this year, thanks to Southwest Airlines‘ updated summer flight schedule. This expansion includes the addition of several nonstop services:
Daily Nonstop to Hollywood Burbank Airport
Starting on June 4, there will be a daily nonstop flight to Hollywood Burbank Airport in California. This flight is particularly convenient for those looking to travel near Los Angeles, as Burbank is only about a 25-minute drive from the city.
The flight from Kansas City departs at 10:20 a.m. and arrives in Burbank at 11:35 a.m., accounting for a 3-hour, 15-minute journey with time zone changes. The return flight leaves Burbank at 2:50 p.m., reaching Kansas City at 7:55 p.m., making for a 3-hour, 5-minute trip.
Sunday-Only Nonstop to John Glenn Columbus International Airport
Beginning on June 9, Southwest will introduce a Sunday-only nonstop service to John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Columbus, Ohio.
Restoration and Increase of Various Services
Southwest is also reinstating weekend services to Myrtle Beach International Airport and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Additionally, the airline plans to enhance daily departures during the summer to several destinations, including Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Nashville International Airport, Pensacola International Airport, and St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
Use of Gates for International Flights
Southwest, being the largest carrier at KCI and utilizing 10 of the 26 gates in Concourse B, will operate its international flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and San José del Cabo, Mexico, from gates A12 to A20.
These new services are likely to provide Kansas Citians with more travel options, making it easier to reach various destinations both domestically and internationally.
