Textron Aviation marked a significant milestone this week as the 400th Cessna Citation Latitude business jet rolled out at the company’s production facility in Wichita, Kansas. This event underscores the jet’s popularity in its segment, particularly given its capacity to carry nine passengers and a range that stretches to 2700 nautical miles.

“The Citation Latitude has redefined aircraft performance, efficiency and cabin experience,” stated Todd McKee, Cessna’s Senior Vice President, Integrated Supply Chain. His comments highlight the innovative strides the company continues to make in refining the design and manufacturing processes of its Citation jets. “Thanks to the dedication and skill of our team, we are continuously innovating and enhancing the Citation jets’ design and manufacturing process, providing our customers with unmatched performance, productivity and profitability,” McKee added.

With a focus on future advancements, McKee noted, “With our sights set on the future, we are committed to ongoing investment in research and development to continue inspiring the journey of flight.”

Introduced in 2011 and taking to the skies for the first time in February 2014, the Citation Latitude initially promised a maximum range of 2000 nautical miles. However, customer input extended this specification to 2300 nm, with final testing further pushing the envelope to 2700 nm. Achieving certification in 2015, the Latitude quickly demonstrated its global appeal with a sales tour across Australia and marked a historical point as the 7000th jet to carry the Citation name.

Versatile in its applications, the Latitude serves an array of missions from corporate and charter flights to personal travel, and more specialized uses such as aeromedical, utility transport, aerial survey, flight inspection, and training.

The completion and delivery of the 400th aircraft are anticipated later this year, continuing Cessna’s tradition of aviation excellence and innovation. This milestone not only reflects the aircraft’s robust market acceptance but also affirms Textron Aviation’s role in advancing the field of business aviation.
