Pinal Airpark, MZJ

Pinal Airpark in Marana, Arizona is a massive storage area for airplanes that are either no longer in use or for (mostly) commercial airlines that wish to store their aircraft when not being used. The facility is located in Marana, Arizona (a little over an hour from Phoenix and Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and 25 minutes from Tucson International Airport) and covers over 2,080 acres of land.

Pinal Airpark is an airport owned by Pinal County and was originally built in 1942 as the Marana Army Airfield which conducted Army and Air Corps flight training.

Present Primary Tenant

Pinal Airpark’s primary tenant at present is Ascent Aviation Services, which is a Class IV 14 CFR Part 145 certified repair station for wide body aircraft.

Ascent is a full-service aviation company that provides a variety of services to the general aviation community. These services include aircraft sales and acquisitions, aircraft management and charter, FBO services, and maintenance and avionics.

Airlines That Typically Store Their Aircraft PAP

Pinal Airpark has roughly 500 acres of secure storage for aircraft to be used in the future, parted out…or outright scrapped for raw materials.

Carriers that have had a number of planes stored their over the years and/or presently include Delta Airlines, American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Northwest Airlines (defunct), JetBlue, Atlas Air (Cargo), South African Airways, Cathay Pacific, TWA (defunct), Southwest Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, SAS, Air Canada and Qantas.
