Air Canada has announced an expansion of its North American network for the summer of 2024, introducing two new destinations and five additional routes. This enhancement also includes increased frequencies on several key routes and an earlier start to some of its popular seasonal services, a move reflecting the airline’s anticipation of growing demand.

Air Canada Starts Service at New Tulum Airport

In a pioneering step, Air Canada becomes the first Canadian carrier to offer flights to Tulum, Mexico, launching services from both Toronto and Montreal to the newly established airport in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. Additionally, the airline is set to connect Toronto with Charleston, South Carolina.

The summer 2024 schedule will see Air Canada serving a total of 120 destinations across Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. This expanded service entails up to 520 daily flights, amounting to around 66,000 seats each day. This represents a 5% increase in seat capacity for the regions of North America and the Caribbean, compared to the previous year.

These changes are indicative of Air Canada’s strategy to respond to travel trends and customer demand, with the new routes and increased frequencies offering more options for travelers. The airline’s initiative to expand its network and enhance service frequency underscores its commitment to providing a broader range of travel opportunities for its customers.

“We are excited to add two brand new destinations to our global network, Tulum, Mexico from our Toronto and Montreal hubs, and Charleston, South Carolina from Toronto, plus new Austin and St. Louis flights from Montreal in summer 2024. These new destinations and routes reflect Air Canada’s market leadership and network diversification strategy of adding capacity to in-demand leisure destinations such as Tulum and fast-growing, key metropolitan areas in the US,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, at Air Canada.

“We are also very pleased to grow our North American network from coast to coast with additional frequencies in key markets including OttawaCalgarySaskatoon and Regina, in regional markets, and by resuming major seasonal routes earlier. By adding scale to our Canadian hubs, we are offering more travel choices and unparalleled access to and from our worldwide network. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard,” concluded Mr. Galardo.
