Air France Boosts Long-Haul Capacity by 9% for Summer 2024, Adds New Cabin Features

Air France has detailed its network expansion plan for the Summer 2024 schedule, marking a significant enhancement of its global footprint.

This strategic move encompasses the introduction of new routes alongside the augmentation and resumption of services on existing ones, aligning with France’s preparations for the forthcoming 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for July 26–August 11, 2024, and August 28–September 8, 2024, respectively.

For the summer period, Air France aims to connect 189 destinations across 74 countries worldwide. A notable addition to its schedule is the thrice-weekly service between Paris (CDG) and Phoenix (PHX), operated on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

This enhancement is complemented by the daily resumption of flights to Minneapolis (MSP) and an increase to seven weekly flights to Raleigh-Durham (RDU).

Cannes Film Festival Special: Direct Flights from Los Angeles to Nice

In conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival, the airline will also deploy two special flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Nice (NCE) aboard the Airbus A350-900, featuring Air France’s latest cabin designs. The airline’s presence in North America is further bolstered with over 210 weekly flights to 17 U.S. destinations and nearly 60 flights to five Canadian cities, including Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Reflecting a 9% increase in long-haul capacity compared to 2023, Air France will service 85 long-haul destinations. A key aspect of this expansion is the continued rollout of new cabins on its Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A350-900s, encompassing upgrades to business class, premium economy, and economy cabins.

Initially, passengers on flights between Paris (CDG) and several international cities including New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Washington DC (IAD), Boston (BOS), Houston (IAH), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Bangkok (BKK), Dakar (DSS), Tokyo Haneda (HND), Hong Kong (HKG), Seoul (ICN), Shanghai (PVG), and Johannesburg (JNB) will experience the airline’s latest cabin products.

This summer, the rollout will extend to additional routes, connecting Paris (CDG) with Toronto (YYZ), Chicago (ORD), Vancouver (YVR), San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Papeete (PPT), Mexico City (MEX), and Tokyo Narita (NRT). This update not only enhances service to two Canadian destinations but also expands the offering to three more U.S. routes and includes the airline’s fifth freedom route from Los Angeles (LAX) to Papeete (PPT).
