Turkish Airlines Expands Cargo Fleet with Purchase of Four Boeing 777 Freighters

Boeing and Turkish Airlines have finalized an agreement for the acquisition of four 777 Freighters, a move that will expand the airline’s cargo fleet to a total of 12 of these aircraft. This purchase reflects Turkish Airlines’ strategic push to bolster its presence in the global air cargo market, driven by the increasing demands of e-commerce and the need for efficient, reliable global transportation solutions.

The introduction of additional 777 Freighters is set to optimize Turkish Airlines’ cargo operations, enabling not only a reduction in operational costs but also improving the timeliness of deliveries worldwide. This aligns with the carrier’s objective to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

The Boeing 777 Freighter stands out in the global market as the most capable twin-engine freighter, boasting a maximum payload capacity of 102 metric tons (112 tons) and a flight range of 9,200 kilometers (4,970 nautical miles). With over 265 units delivered, it is not only Boeing’s best-selling freighter but also a market leader in the dedicated freighter capacity segment, contributing over 90% to the global total.

In addition to its fleet of freighters, Turkish Airlines also operates an array of Boeing passenger aircraft, including the 777-300ER (Extended Range), Next-Generation 737, 737 MAX, and 787 Dreamliner, showcasing the diversity and scale of its operational capabilities.
